"I painted this whimsical series of small oil paintings of the tropics as a break from working on the labor-intensive Sacred Sites series. All of these tropical seascapes and landscapes were originally watercolor sketches I did in Jamaica. The series is a combination of day paintings and night paintings. I lived right on the seacoast west of Negril, and every day the ocean and sky created a unique visual panorama. Jamaica is an idyllic setting for landscape and seascape artists, who will never run out of subject matter."
